I was attempting to have a tidy up the other day and came across an old Pallant House flyer on which I'd written the names of some artists and artworks. I couldn't remember them, or indeed what exhibition I'd seen them in, so looked a couple up.

This one (by Pinkie Maclure) I particularly remember now and like - though still can't remember what the exhibition was... so thought I'd share it here on my blog. Check out her website at the link above.

Prometheus continued

Managed to grab an impromptu day in the studio on Friday so continued on the theme of Prometheus. Monoprint with the addition of a drypoint figure. Hmm, not sure if it works.

Looming deadlines

We're nearing the handing in deadline for our collaborative box set. Not usually a fan of printing editions but I really enjoyed this one. And what could be more satisfying than a pile of prints, trimmed, numbered, titled and signed?

Preparing for Prometheus

Had a great day monoprinting at Red Hot Press on Friday. Working on a series of prints relating to the Prometheus myth. These are a few small trial prints which I want to develop further. Still using the colour combinations found on Greek ceramics and experimenting with light on dark. Going in the right direction I think.

William of Orange was on the throne in England. He had a rather excellent nose (I may have exaggerated it a bit in my drawing...).

Bit late with this one due to Stuff. Week 6 due on Monday.

Several projects on the go at the moment, one of which is a collaborative box set of prints between Cowprint members and a group of printmakers in the Falkland Islands. My image is in progress.

There were some good things in this exhibition but overall, a bit disappointing. Not enough variety of work, not enough history etc. The film of Chinese students drawing a huge head of David was good, as were some of the 19th Century paintings of life classes at the RA. Amusing in a Giles cartoon sort of way; some of the students didn't seem to be paying attention or looked decidedly bored. Also wearing hats indoors. You have to feel for the models who must have been pretty cold.
